This Women's History Month, We're Celebrating The Women of CACF's Leadership Team

NEW YORK (March 1, 2023) --  Happy Women's History Month! Because March is traditionally a month of reflection on the impact of women in history, we thought it would be the perfect time to share that CACF has recently (and proudly) become one of the only nonprofit organizations in New York City with a leadership team made up entirely of women of color.

Led by our Co-Executive Directors Anita Gundanna and Vanessa Leung, our longtime Director of Operations Andrea Wu has been joined in recent months by Director of Policy and Government Relations Felicia Singh and Director of Contracts Ambrosia Kaui.

“It feels unique to be part of this team. To me, there's something about the perspective drawn from our lived experiences that we bring to this work that is special as we continue to shape CACF," Anita tells us

“I’ve been excited to see how the CACF team has grown this past year,” adds Vanessa. “To now have in place a senior leadership team made up of these amazing women who ground their leadership in empathy and collaboration illustrates how CACF is poised to lead our community through positive transformation.”

Says Andrea, “Being a part of a women of color leadership team is important to me because it is an opportunity to model to our young people leadership structures that are based on collective decision-making and shared power, and that are held by people whose experiences are reflected in the communities they serve.”

The power of working together with others who share important aspects of their life stories was shared by Felicia, who adds, “I feel proud to be on a leadership team with other women of color because we share each other’s lived experiences. That's so important in the work that we do helping to uplift AAPI communities.”

CACF’s leadership model also stood out to Ambrosia. “It feels really good to be part of this leadership team specifically,” she said. “I’ve been working in nonprofits for a really long time — so I know this is not the norm. I don't think I've ever seen a team like this.”

Throughout the month, we’ll be spotlighting our leadership team and their inspirations on social media. We hope that you join us on Instagram and LinkedIn and follow along — and that you share your own stories of women who served as your role models in the comments.
