Asian Pacific American Youth for Equity Symposium (APA-YES)
About ASAP:
The Asian American Student Advocacy Project (ASAP) is a youth leadership program under CACF (Coalition for Asian American Children and Families). ASAP teaches APA youth communication, leadership, and advocacy skills, as well as APA history, issues, and community-building in order to create and build a network of young APA social justice leaders. ASAP educates, trains, and equips its Youth Leaders to be self-aware and informed advocates for their communities. ASAP seeks to build a community of APA youth whose voices are heard and incorporated, and with the collective power to create positive change, particularly in education.
About APA-YES (Asian Pacific American Youth for Equity Symposium):
APA-YES is a annual event ASAP where we gather APA youth to share the culmination of ASAP's work and receive live feedback. By learning about our community's opinions, perspectives, and experiences, especially from those who are underrepresented in ASAP, we can form a more clarified understanding of ourselves as a collective. However, it isn't enough to simply spread awareness. Through APA-YES, we aim to equip others with the resources and tools to understand the complexity of the APA community and speak out against the injustices we face on all levels—individual, interpersonal, institutional, and systematic.

APA State Advocacy Day Virtual Teach In (2021)
CACF’s teach-in focused on unpacking how racism is a public health crisis, including for our diverse Asian American communities in New York. Asian American children and families -- similar to all children and families -- cannot lead safe and healthy lives unless we tackle the real issues we face of poverty, overcrowded housing, and we build health and education systems that make the effort to support us and not render us as invisible and dismiss our lived experiences. We must focus on the social determinants of health that underlie the crises we see today. These inequities are a function of racist systems, which have been laid glaringly bare by COVID-19. In attendance were Senator Alessandra Biaggi, Senator John Liu, and Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon.

New Yorkers United Against Anti-Asian Violence and White Supremacy
Saturday, March 27th at 1pm at City Hall & Broadway
Our action is centered on multigenerational and multiracial voices. We will be hearing from young people, educators, parents, artists, and community members. We will be uplifting our demands of DOE and the Mayor in light of increased anti-Asian violence, around transforming our public schools to be truly safe, supportive, and welcoming spaces.

NEW YORK, NY - People of Color Health Justice Campaign is a united front of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)-led community-based organizations that call to end racism and discrimination in healthcare during and beyond this pandemic. New York City and State governments, along with large academic hospitals, and large pharmacy chains entrusted in the vaccine roll-out continue to fail people of color in the response to COVID-19. And our voices remain unheard.
Recent news on the low numbers of people of color being vaccinated in the communities hardest hit by COVID-19, while not surprising, speaks to the continued inequities that we face. Join the POC HJ “Vaccine Racism MUST Stop!” Press Conference to hear untold stories highlighting the challenges of BIPOC communities and our demands to end racism in healthcare for all New Yorkers.

13th Annual Asian Pacific American City Advocacy Week
13TH ANNUAL ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN CITY ADVOCACY WEEK
From Monday, February 22, to Friday, February 26, will be the 13th Annual Asian Pacific American City Advocacy action, and it will be virtual and week long to bring us together to fight for a fair and equitable New York City budget.
Key dates:
February 18: City Advocacy Training
February 23: Teach-in on Covid-19 and Its Impact on the APA Community: highlighting the untold stories of our diverse communities
Week of Action: launch a digital photostory campaign; legislative meetings
Over 100 community members, service providers, advocates and elected allies will virtually gather today at 1 PM EST for a Teach-in on COVID-19 and its Impact on the APA Community. This event is a part of the 13th Annual Asian Pacific American City Advocacy, led by the Coalition for Asian American Children & Families (CACF) under the 15% & Growing Campaign. As a collective voice demanding equitable funding for the APA community, the 15% & Growing Campaign unites over 45 Asian-led and serving organizations across New York City to advocate for a fair budget.
