CACF Response to Mayor Eric Adams’ FY26 Preliminary Budget
NEW YORK, New York (January 16, 2025) --- In response to the preliminary budget unveiled by Mayor Eric Adams, the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families issued the following statement:
The Mayor’s preliminary budget is his vision for the future of New York City, addressing urgent needs while making important investments in our growth through his 10-year capital strategy. Protecting critical services like 3-K and immigrant support are missing and should be a part of the long-term plan.
CACF is committed to the advocacy and fight for at-risk programs that will greatly impact marginalized communities across New York City. Our 18% and Growing campaign supports AAPI-led and-serving community-based organizations to provide critical and life-affirming services. City initiatives are a crucial component to lasting investments in communities and that’s why we’re calling for:
AAPI Community Support Initiative: $7.5 million
Communities of Color Nonprofit Stabilization Fund: $7.5 million
Access Health NYC: $4.5 million
We are proud to be a part of the Coalition for Equitable Education Funding (CEEF) and these education programs, which are funded for this year only, are currently benefitting tens of thousands of NYC students and their families. Three of the many programs that are at-risk of being cut are below:
Community Schools: $14 million
Restorative Justice: $12 million
Immigrant Family Communications and Outreach: $4 million
We are committed to working with the Mayor and the City Council to build an inclusive and just budget.
