In-Person Assistor / Navigator
Takako joined CACF in August 2015. In her capacity, she serves as an In-Person Assistor/Navigator for the New York State of Health Marketplace. Her primary responsibilities include assisting individuals, families, and small business to enroll in health insurance through the marketplace. She also outreaches and educates community members about their coverage options. As a breast cancer survivor, she has used this experience of learning to navigate the confusion and challenges of the U.S. health system to help others link to necessary health care resources. Now Takako would like the opportunity to meaningfully give back to help others who are dealing with a serious illness like cancer. She was born and raised in Japan. In 2010, she and her family moved to New York City after spending two years in London. Takako majored in Japanese literature in college and previously worked as an administrative assistant and research for Japanese company.
