Andy joined CACF as a Program Associate in June 2017. However, Andy had been involved with CACF since the 2015-2016 school year as a member of CACF’s Asian American Student Advocacy Program (ASAP). As a Program Associate, he helps organize ASAP for the upcoming school year. With two years of experience in ASAP and a current high school student, he knows what engages young people and he uses that knowledge to help improve ASAP for the upcoming year. He will continue being an ASAPer next year. As a part of ASAP, he has been working on APA representation in the school system, specifically the curriculum. Recently, he has been working to gain support on City Council Res. 0792, which would establish January 30 annually as Fred T. Korematsu Day in New York City. He set up and went to meetings with Council Members’ offices to discuss the significance of the day and the impact the recognition would have on young people. Andy is a rising senior at Stuyvesant High School.
