A message from our recruitment team:

The Action Council has built of reputation for its excellent community events and fundraisers – like our wildly successful Asian American Idol karaoke competition -- as well as for high-quality educational and advocacy-related events, like Artists for Advocacy, which showcased local Asian American photography as a tool for community change.

In addition to leading and organizing such exciting events, we’ve learned new skills that have benefitted us greatly in my professional and personal life. We’ve also tapped into a fantastic network and formed substantial friendships with other Action Council members. This has been one of our most fulfilling and fun experiences, and we encourage you to apply to become a member. We’ll be accepting applications through July 5th, for a year of service for August 2010-2011. For more information, contact actioncouncil@cacf.org.

Come learn more about the Action Council and meet the team on Sunday, June 27th from 5 to 8pm at Verlaine (110 Rivington St.). We will be hosting an open bar from 5 to 6pm!  It should be a great opportunity to learn more about our projects and find out how to get involved!

Be an Action Council Ally!

The Action Council (AC) of the Coalition for Asian American Children & Families (CACF) is pleased to announce the launch of AC Allies, a group of friends and supporters dedicated to assisting the AC with its fundraising and awareness-building work.

AC Asian American Idol 2009

Over the past several years, the AC has hosted dozens of events, reached hundreds of young professionals, and raised almost $50,000 to support CACF.  We have gained a strong reputation for our signature events such as the Asian American Idol karaoke competition, Summer Lovin' Speed Dating event, and At Your Service fundraising auction.

While we have had many successes, we have now reached a critical juncture of our growth and are quickly recognizing the limitations of an 11-person volunteer group.  We are ready to expand and ask that you consider joining the AC Allies, a volunteer corps that can be called upon to provide support on an as-needed basis for our events and other CACF program activities.
AC Asian American Idol 2009
As an AC Ally, you can commit your time and service based on availability, interests, and expertise.  We host between four and five events each year, and the service you provide can range from one event to as many as you'd like.  For example, a graphic designer can help create an e-flyer for an upcoming event, a DJ can play music, and a photographer can capture event highlights.  Those with specialized athletic, artistic, professional, or technical skills can sign up as donors for our Fall service auction.  Finally, AC Allies are always needed to assist with event outreach and promotions.  No task is too small and every AC Ally has something to offer.

For your participation as an AC Ally, you will receive special invitations to all CACF and AC activities, and be recognized in event materials, CACF's website, and quarterly newsletter.  Most importantly, you will join a growing network of Asian Pacific American professionals taking action towards creating a positive future for children and families across the City.

We hope you will become a part of this exciting initiative.  To join the AC Allies, please complete our simple on-line registration form by Friday, March 12, 2010.  If you have questions or would like more information, feel free to contact Allies coordinator Cynthia Wong at cynthiacwong@aol.com
